Spring/Summer series

This series of five small atmospheric abstract landscapes are the final culmination of a three month creative program I undertook earlier this year.

Forever inspired by the changing landscapes around me I was keen to explore the relationship between the mid tone colours that make up the bulk of the paintings. Lots of muted greens, peach and off whites, with small amounts of more vivid and rich acidic green and orange adding little features.

These paintings have a lovely texture to the panel surface with scratches and marks scribed directly into the wood adding depth and detail to the surface of the painting when viewing it from different angles. Loose marks and subtle lights help to create a feeling of spaciousness in the pieces.

Some close ups…

I wanted these pieces to convey a feeling of calm for the viewer, perhaps conjuring up a memory of colours and snippets of views they have seen before.

These paintings really allowed me to adopt a playfulness into my creative process, a part of the process that I will definitely be taking forward into my future work.

Four remaining paintings from this series are available to purchase from the online shop.
